Fri 8 December 2017 Christmas Box Frames

Some ideas for the IKEA box Frames on a Christmas theme.

Friday 1 December 2017 Christmas decorations

Small scraps of felt in various shades of white and cream layered to form a Christmas Tree. Using the bookfolding technique to make a Christmas tree in the centre of the book and adding diecuts either side. Not visible is the star at the top of the tree. For sale in the Shop.

Friday 24 November 2017 Christmas Tags

A variety of techniques were used to produce a batch of Christmas tags. Great workshop for those wanting to dabble in a range of techniques and use a variety of materials. Useful for using up the peel-offs that so many of us have in abundance.

Friday 17 November 2017 Stocking Fillers - Pinecone Fire Starters and Mulling Spices

Made these for a recent craft fair. Pinecones dipped in scented wax. Beautiful aroma and useful stocking filler. Also stamped some little bags with Christmas motifs and added little bags of mulling spices ready to go into a bottle of red wine or cider. You will have an opportunity to make gifts like these at the workshop on Friday 1 December 2017. More details in the Christmas Crafts workshop.

Friday 10 November 2017 Scrapbook Page - Baby

This page was put together using 2 8 x 8 pieces of decorative paper on a 12 x 12 background that had a stitched border. A vellum quote and diecut bunting and hearts were added together with a wooden ‘Love’ embellishment. Loved how this turned out using bright unconventional papers for a baby page.

Friday 3 November 2017 Colouring In

Why not make use of the pages you colour in? Can be adhered to large letters or made into notebook covers.

Friday 27 October 2017 Decorated Box

Decorated with chalk paint, diecuts, lace and pearls. A nice little storage box for nic nacs. Decorate in a sewing theme to hold sewing accessories.

Friday 20 October 2017 Chalkboard cards

Love the combination of chalkboard, kraft, blue and pink card. Wedding card has gone but the others are available for sale.

Friday 13 October 2017 Scented door hanger

This has got to be the easiest project ever! An organza bag filled with the Lenor Unstoppables. Provides a long lasting freshness.

Friday 6 October 2017 Birdhouse

Made using card, patterned papers, pom pom trim and little floral motifs

Friday 29 September 2017 Bracelet

Personalised with letter stickers. Another idea for a girls birthday party.

Friday 22 September 2017 Cork placemats upcycle

Novel way to keep things tidy in the craft studio. I could certainly make use of these.

Friday 15 September 2017 Macrame

Another workshop idea which I am working on at the moment. Contact me if interested. As well as using glass jars, this technique would work with terracotta pots.

Friday 8 September 2017 Upcycling wooden hearts

These were purchased in February. The text on the wooden hearts was covered with pretty pastel pink papers and little bows added. Would make a lovely gift for a newborn baby when personalised with name and birth details.

Friday 1 September 2017 Framed Art

Another gift idea which can be personalised with names and dates to suit the recipient. If you are interested in making something like this, then check out the papercraft section of the website where more examples are on display. It’s also possible to make a frame to celebrate a special occasion such as a marriage, birth or christening. These are available to order or come and make it extra special by making one yourself.

Friday 25 August 2017 Matchbook Needlecase

Simple little idea to gift an emergency sewing kit. Card outer with fabric applied to cover and felt embellishment.

Friday 18 August 2017 Sashiko embroidery

The Japanese word sashiko means little stabs. Sashiko stitching is a traditional embroidery style from Japan. Originally used for repairs and reinforcements, in the present day it is more often employed for its decorative purposes. Sashiko stitching is a simple yet elegant embroidery style that creates repeating patterns of varying complexity. The only stitch you need throughout is a running stitch, and the aim is to keep your stitches as regular as possible. The gap between each stitch should be half the size of the stitch itself. This embroidery is also important in quilting. Patterns are usually worked in 6 strands of embroidery floss or a size 8 or 22 pearl cotton or traditional sashiko thread.

Friday 11 August 2017 Magnetic note pads

Some little note pads made for a craft fair. Can hang using the clip at the top or alternatively will adhere to your fridge using the magnetic strip on the back.

Friday 4 August 2017 Thank you cards

Clean and simple thank you cards which suit male recipients as well as female recipients. Washi tape, thread and the sentiment are all that is required.

Friday 28 July 2017 Heritage Scrapbook Page

A lot of you have old black and white photos lying in boxes and in time the story behind the photo or indeed who the people are in the photo will be lost. This scrapbook layout is suitable to record the story and preserve the memories. The wedding title can easily be substituted to reflect the intended photo.

Friday 21 July 2017 Decorated canvas bags

More altered canvas bags. The pink bag has a banner of fabric triangles secured to the front of the bag with ribbon and buttons running along the top whilst the blue bag has fabric paint applied through a stencil.

Friday 14 July 2017 Decorated glass jar

Nice little receptacles for a bunch of flowers to gift. The pink jar was made by applying Mod Podge to a glass jar and placing a decorated napkin on top and then applying a top coat of Mod Podge to seal. Another option is to transfer photocopied images by means of sticky tape to the jar, as demonstrated in the yellow jar.

Friday 7 July 2017 Edwardian Style Cards and Tags

To accompany the Tussie Mussies, it is important to let the recipient know the meaning of the flowers that it contains, for example rose symbolises love, wheat symbolises prosperity and the daisy symbolises innocence . It is appropriate that the card providing this detail is in the same era and so the samples below show cards and tags in various sizes which could be used.

Friday 30 June 2017 Tussie Mussies

I made a number of samples for a recent make and take session for the Carnegie Family Fun Day. For some I used a pre made cone which was painted and then the napkin decoupage technique was used to decorate. However, for a make and take session, I did not have time to wait for the paints to dry so using a template, the children constructed the cone out of stiff card, decorated it with stamps and drawing and then adhered Edwardian floral images to the front. The older children had the option of making paper rosettes.

Friday 23 June 2017 Friendship Bracelet

An add on party activity that can be completed relatively quickly and lets the girls take home something that they have made and reminds them of their creative day. The little kraft tags with a friendship saying and a silver star charm on a cord bracelet are available to purchase from the shop.

Friday 16 June 2017 Decorated Frame part 2

Frames decorated with buttons and little verse inserts make a nice little gift for a newborn that will last much longer than a greeting card.

Friday 9 June 2017 Decorated Frame or Pencil Case

Ideal party activity for both the young and not so young. Colouring is a great stress-reliever: it is said to calm the part of the brain related to the fear/stress response while stimulating the parts of the brain responsible for creativity and logic. Super activity which also provides a take home gift.

Friday 2 June 2017 Stacking Boxes

Pretty little gift boxes which stack on top of each other. The different sizes are made by starting with different sized papers and using the same origami folding technique. Ideal for small gifts such as ear rings or friendship bracelets.

Friday 26 May 2017 Layered Candle

If you are interested in making a layered candle then put Fri 23 June 2017 in your diary and book online at the workshop section.  As well as layered candles we will be making chunk candles and dipped candles. The sample below was actually made from left over waxes from classes, hence the strange colour combination but at the workshop you will have the opportunity to make a candle with an ombre effect.

Friday 19 May 2017 Repurposed jenga blocks

Key ring made using a jenga block as the starting point. Painted black and then Marvel comic paper adhered to four of the faces. Little wood screw added to the top to hold the split ring and it’s finished.

Friday 12 May 2017 Covered Buttons

Recently got the tools to make some covered buttons and was really impressed with the finish. Great for adding to fabric brooches.

Friday 5 May 2017 – Marbled Soap

Ever fancied making marbled soap? Why not book into the workshop on Wednesday 7 June at 7.30pm? All equipment and materials will be provided, you just need to bring yourself (and a friend) and have some fun. There will also be an opportunity to make other shaped guest soaps as well.

Friday 28 April 2017 Notecards

Projects couldn’t get any easier than this. Patterned paper, embossed lines and a sentiment make up these clean and crisp notecards.

Friday 21 April 2017 Fabric Scrap brooches

Started off with squares or strips of fabric to make these brooches. The addition of a covered button in the centre would perhaps make these more appealing for a craft fair.

Friday 14 April 2017 Heritage Scrapbook pages

Couple of heritage scrapbook pages using buckles, eyelets, stencilling, distressing, buttons and bottlecaps. It’s important to keep the papers and embellishments in the same era as the photographs. In fact the green paper is a vintage Christmas paper so just don’t pack your Christmas stash away, it can come in useful all year round.

Friday 7 April 2017 Framed print for kids room

Fairy parties are the most popular for girls in the 6-8 years age group and it’s always nice for the birthday girl to get a little additional pressie.

Friday 31 March 2017  Easter Baskets

Easter baskets made from double sided card. A great group project which only requires folding and slotting the pieces together.

Friday 24 March 2017 Hand Finished Cards

Pre printed floral cards with no sentiment or inserts were the starting point for these cards. By adding a stamped and diecut sentiment, some ribbon and gems, the cards become a little bit more personal.

Friday 17 March 2017 Bracelet

Using ribbon and washers, this bracelet has a steampunk feel. Combine this with a washer necklace and you have another idea for a girls’ crafty birthday party. Girls will get to play with nail varnish as well, but not for their nails.

Friday 10 March 2017 Birthday Card – Horses

Just one of a variety of cards available for those interested in horses.

Friday 3 March 2017 Scrapbook Page - At the Zoo

Geometric page which will display a 5” x 5” photo as well as up to six smaller photos. By removing the giraffe it could easily become a fashion page depicting animal print clothing or handbags and shoes.

Friday 24 February 2017 – Heart Shaped Tag

A little late for Valentines day but thought I would share with you this little heart shaped Gift Tag. It starts life as a 4 1/2” square of paper, folded in half. With a few snips at the corners and a diagonal cut on one side to the fold, the tag is created with a little pocket.

Friday 17 February 2017 – Home scrapbook page

Easy to complete using stamped images from LC Designs. Page suits one 5” x 7” photo or alternatively two smaller portrait photos could be inserted.

Friday 10 February 2017 – floral scrapbook layout

Bold and bright or a more pastel version is available to complete. Inspiration for this was taken from a sheet of wrapping paper with die cut flowers in the same colours as the mat also being used.

Friday 3 February – Baby Memory Album

Available as one of the activities at a Baby Shower Party. Everyone contributes to making a little album for the parents to record the first year of their child’s life. Other party options are available. Have a look at the Workshop Section for more ideas and inspiration.

Friday 20 January 2017 Porcelain painting

Picture says it all! A painted plate. One of the options for the handmade home workshops. Created using Posca pens which are a lot easier to control than paint.

Friday 13 January 2017 Faux Leather Notebooks

You wouldn’t believe that these were created from kraft card! There are a number of stages in the process to make these books with a lot of drying in between. I am working out how I could offer this as a workshop with, of course , the stab stitching and leather binding to finish it off as a little gift.

Friday 6 January 2017 Happy New Year and Thank You

Happy New Year and thank you to all who have supported me over the past year. Thought I would share with you some hand-finished thank you cards. These were purchased and then a threaded button added to the front. Pretty cards to thank everyone for all the lovely  presents I received.
